Sadako 3D

In no circumstances would you go over to  help out a hand that comes out of a well.
What's it about:
Following the urban legend of a girl who was thrown down a well when she was still alive when falling, her vengeful spirit roams the human world in a hunger to wipe out anyone that sees a mysterious video.

Fast forward into the present, an individual with nothing but hatred for the world intends to summon her soul back from the well and wreak havoc on the surface dwellers.

Koji Seto aka kamen rider Kiva plays a very sissy boyfriend.
What I would say about it:

Being a J-fanatic, I am of course looking forward to this movie.

To an average seeker of horror flicks, some of the scares and the eerie-ness it gives at the beginning of the movie were fair enough. Just like many Japan films, it will come to a certain point where they over rely on the CG effects and make the whole movie look comedic (CG is super cheap in Japan).

There is definitely a lot of confusion with the plot if you have not read the novels it was based on but the general audience (like all japanese films) are mostly targeted to their own countrymen. Call it selfish or whatever, I personally quite familiar with the premises that these films work around.

If it weren't for the overly CG feel from the final scenes the movie would have been a lot more creepier, trust me... the older Japanese films were much creepier because they did all without CG.

The soundtrack needed a little bit more creep to it because some scenes would be much better without the background music.

However, I am quite sure there were many scared audience today as I heard many awkward laughs and effort to ease up the air in some scenes.

Most of the scenes were filmed for 3D hence a 2D version would have affected the experience. So if you plan to watch a 2D version, downloading it when the subs are out might be a better choice.

Have some  fun watching it with your friends, throwing a little bit of cash for some fun wouldn't hurt once in awhile.

I would have went even if i did not receive passes to watch it earlier. :)

Rating: 2/5

The failed sacrifices

Critic Mode:
"Perhaps relying on CG for cheap scares was not the best way to film this movie, they should have put more effort into the more conventional way of filming Japanese Horror movies which were once the most feared movies." benjaminfoo of

Extra facts for Japanese films :)

  • Koji Seto is the main actor for the Kamen Rider series, Kamen Rider Kiva
  • Yusuke Yamamoto who plays Kashiwada Seiji ( the mad individual) is known for his role as Kamen Rider Sasword.
  • Ai Hashimoto who plays Sadako is also acting in another horror thriller which is based on the Light Novel / Anime "Another" . Check out the trailer.
Watch 1:38 as they invited Sadako for a baseball pitch XD

I like the original Ringu movie. It was very disturbing. But this movie relying on CG? Hmm, and your rating just 2/5? Not good : )
