Restoran Hoe Fong Chicken Rice

This photo is thx to contributed by marktham

Located at Sea Park right opposite the famous Maybank nasi lemak, Restoran Hoe Foong has been around for almost 30 years, yes you hear me right 30 years AT LEAST!

You may ask how would i know that, it's because i use to stay here and my family would always come here to eat because we were very close with the shop owner as well.

23 years, it can be said that i grow up eating the chicken rice here and today alone i came to eat again just for the nostalgia feeling which i enjoy.

The lady owner who was closed to our family has retired recently so i was kinda sad that i didn't get to see her as i would come here whenever i could. Now her god son takes over and he is doing a pretty decent job keeping the shop running as most of the worker here are of familiar faces.

It's always nice to visit such familiar and nostalgic places as it's sentimental value differs from one another, When i was about twelve i use to take a container and walk up that nearby slope and come here to pack for myself and my late grandmother, the owner would always give me an extra drumstick to munch on my way home. *tears*

So I sat down and was greeted by the folks who still remember me after so long, ordered my usual and waited patiently for the food. I was here at around 3pm as the shop was getting ready to close so the lunch crowded had already subsided.

Before my food arrives, let me introduce to you the "companions " that you will need to fully enjoy the chicken rice here.

Excluding tooth pick, home made soy sauce, dark soy sauce ,grinded chili and grinded ginger
Comment: The ginger and chili are to be mixed together with the dark soy sauce to create a unique taste and the soy sauce is to be poured on the fried chicken later, it enhances the enjoyment you will have for the chicken rice later.

Fried Chicken- No fancy name needed  for this, dipped in hot oil and fried to crisp while maintaining the moisture inside, this is very much different from the roast chicken we eat at normal coffee shops.
Comment: The skin of the chicken is crispy and when you dash a bit of soy sauce on it , it is very tasty, the meat is tender as well.

Chicken butter rice-Unlike many, the butter and chicken extract use in to cook this rice is very well balanced, it is not too oily but it is enough to add a very aromatic smell to the rice.
Comment: Some chicken rice has a very yellowish color on it and some are too white and tasteless to even be considered as chicken rice, but this rice is not too oily, smells good and taste good, put some dark soy sauce on it and it's awesome!

It also comes with a soup that is quite nice as well, this is basically my set. + rice satu pls.

So if you are ever in the Sea Park area, not Taman sea around 10.30 am to 2.30 pm do drop by and let me know what you think of this place ya?
