Smurfs The Movie

5 comments :

Movie In A Glance:
"When the evil wizard Gargamel chases the tiny blue Smurfs out of their village, they tumble from their magical world and into ours."- IMDB

The film is written base on the characters from Belgian cartonist Peyo (Pierre Culliford) and was very famous globally including Malaysia during the 90s. Mix and match you will get an adventure of little blue creatures in an urban city.

My Talk:

Acting
- This includes voice acting, which in anyway did not make such a big impact on the whole movie , there was nothing special with it although Hank Azaria who plays the main baddie was being stupid and wicked at the same time but it's his normal performance. Whether or not it's Katy Perry's voice did not matter what so ever, and dear Neil Patrick Harris was definitely under played here.

Story
- I was impress with the fact that they actually linked the old cartoon and justify it so that it makes the story of the Smurfs to make "better" sense then just suddenly making them exist out of nowhere, the script writer and director did mix it up to make the Smurfs more enjoyable in this film adaptation, with emotions being played effectively even just a little.and the fact that they credited the original creator in the movie is very pleasant.

Effects
-Nothing much can be said, it's a similar to Alvin & the chipmunks and Hop, where you get real life people interacting with animated objects although they did make the 3D Smurfs very much likable.

Ending
-Simple and sweet i have to say , although they added a little salt and pepper into the bowl just to concluded more dramatically but it works just fine.

Gibberish:
-The Smurfs were a bit too easy going in accepting a completely different world in a matter of hours.
-Most parts in the movie had something to do with blue, such as Blue man group or Blu Ray Disc.
-The Cat in the film was certainly a nice addition that brings in cheap laughs here and there.

Stamped and Mailed:
What do you expect? This is definitely a family movie and would entertain children very much.

It's just a adventure film to capture the hearts of children and I feel that it will make it's mark in the Children just like how it was to me.

I enjoyed the movie, but not to the extend of jumping up my sit to clap my hands for it but it is definitely a good catch for family fun.

Rating : 2.5/5

Movie screening thanks to Nuffnang.

love the smurfs, love the settings, ok with the music, hate the dumb and childish villain. How can he be so childish. Unacceptable! A villain should be evil .. lol!

had the same thoughts like you. The only good thing about the movie for me was Azrael, the cat!

He's the only thing I loved about this movie!
