so lets talk about smoking.
why tis came up? well today was the presentation of one of the groups in my class on the "tak nak " campaign in Malaysia. the strategy it took and its process and effectiveness.well many might say it wasnt effective. well. lets see . the "tak nak" campaign started 2005. that was 5 years ago. and since then it has become a very common slang or word to use. "tak nak"
the campaign was able to build community awareness BUT only to those who don smoke.those who smoked simply don care. the risk of smoking didnt affect them at all, because they couldnt stop even though majority claimed that it was their freedom to do so. i for one say there is no freedom in committing a slow death.
lets take a look at a family ad back then
the whole concept of this was that if u smoke u get yellow teeth.
why it failed was simply, smokers don care much about their teeth. and for those who do--->
it helped these guys up their sales.
so later on the government decided they need to work on this. so they decided on the budgets to raise cigarette prices.
now its rm 10 for a pack. which in my opinion is still too cheap. because its a less den rm1 increase from the price before. thats not an effort, thats just for show.
also not forgetting the gore pics on the boxes
yup these guys helped a bit.just a bit
why it didnt work? because smokers think their immortal and it wont happen to them , even if they cough blood, they drink syrup ice and just blame the red phlegm on the syrup.talk about major denial
and then came 2010. which is the highlight of this blog. the ad that had much of an impact.i would not say much. just watch it. and friends. yes all my friends. please don break my heart as well.
did u feel its impact?
most of my friends are smokers back in pj, and some smoked since form 4, i m proud to say i m not one of them and i have nv even have the intention to try it out, but it is also to my own fault to have not stop them from doin so. i do hope they will come to their sense soon enough. sigh.
well, smokers. stop smoking la.

the week
its been quite an interesting week , wasnt too boring and i got to earn a bit of money.yesterday accepted a promoter job for ajinomoto at pantai remis, we left for ipoh at 4 am and get picked up by the employee at 5am, pantai remis is about 1 and a half hour from ipoh.
when we reached , it was puring cats and dogs, so the guys decided that we couldnt carry on and compensated us with onli rm50 instead of the rm 80, they were goin to set up shop at the local morning market, to gain exposure and data for their new product.
so it was a joy ride for rm 50. not so bad la. LOL.
so, stephanie is coming back next week. YAY! ^^

Facilitation week
i was invited by a soft skill trainer to assist him to co facilitate for a two day leadership programme organize by UTAR for its presidents of many clubs.it's quite a good oppurtunity for these future leaders to learn about many diff methods in becoming a leader.
my job was to assist with the activities being held however it then took a step up and i was to give out my own opinions and guidance to these people as well. haha. well it was certainly a good experience for me, and the trainer was pleased with my performance and how i executed them , the words i said where precisely wat he wanted to get through. Impressed with what i could achieve he insisted that i were to go over to his company to work. TheBrandLaureate. this could well be my goal in life . the trainer himself is the GM for the branding department.
here are some of the pictures of some of the simple yet meaningful games that were executed throughout the two day training course
the activities that were played during the course include the balloon train, cooking the egg, project management, watermelon eating, midnight candle, trust circle and a few more others.
each of these activities were designed to help the participants under what it takes to be a leader and what are the things that they will face when they are leaders
the participants actively participated in the activities showing teamwork leadership as well as great effort to achieve the goal created for the activities.
in the end , the understood that a leader has to always listen, facilitate, make decisions and such that woudl unite a team or an organization. handling the great stress that comes along with it.
Taipau:"A leader must also have the passion of his work to passed on his/her legacy to others in order to form a system that would change society"

+plus- canvas
a song by a japanese band- the lyrics mean so much to life
Everyone of us have a brush
called "personality"
Look, with a little bravery you can change it into any color
Let's paint our feelings
How far does this sky continue?
The world we know is so small
Someone is calling for help
But we pretend not to hear it
As we fight, we find the worth of our existence
Then we start to bear doubts
Believing different "individuals" are "enemies"
We refuse other people
Relationships become dominating
Not something that ties people together
Hold my hands and listen to my voice
Coloring the world
Without hatred, from a beautiful bond
There are no useless lives, let's accept each other
The infinite canvas is now dyed in hope
Everyone of us have a brush
called "personality"
Look, with little bravery you can change it into any color
Let's paint our feelings
For what reason am I born?
I can't find the answer anywhere
Thus ordinary days
Are hidden with wonders
In the shadows behind the light
Each trivial yet lovely unspoken words
Accompanied by anger and grief
I turn my sight in the other direction
called "personality"
Look, with a little bravery you can change it into any color
Let's paint our feelings

Thus ordinary days
Are hidden with wonders
In the shadows behind the light

Accompanied by anger and grief
I turn my sight in the other direction
Understanding pain is easy
If you could forgive each other
Tomorrow we could just laugh it off

Retired:Extremely Dangerous
Movie in a glimpse
Former Black ops operative Frank Moses(Bruce Willis) retired and a bit lonely finds himself getting attacked in his own room by the CIA, out to find out why he is being targeted after his retirement he goes on a road trip around America meeting old friends along to way to kick ass.
My talk:
Seen from the trailer, its main pull would be these old action stars or just old people getting into a movie together each with their own star studded performance back then and in this movie as well. When many people might not known them for their performances in the past besides Willis, this movie has what it takes for these guys(old) to show you kids what acting is about.
However, as this show is not shown in Malaysia yet, I got a sneak premiere from a torrent seed I guess, so how did it go? Lets jut say it aint that GOOD., the casting was great no doubt, but the story and execution wasn’t that clear cut .It went from fast paced to slow crawl and den back to fast pace again, and these happen DURING the action scenes.
Now we all know that action comedy is kind of a thing now , like other guys and the A team, the expendables( yes it’s a comedy in my opinion) but this show being rated a comedy couldn’t fit it if it weren’t for the cast being these legendary guys. Malkovich did most of the chemistry in this movie.
But the jokes were stale, just a lil laugh actually. So don expect too much
Favorite parts:
It was all in the trailer for me actually. The cop car side step and the RPG bullet show down.
Favorite Quote
Marvin:I thought the secret services were tougher back then
Victoria: I thought so too.*smirk*
Stamped and mailed
A movie made for mostly the 80s and below, people who understood these veterans past performances would find it amusing to watch.
The part that i find amusing
Being a retiree themes movie, I like how these veteran characters keep contrasting how things were back den and now.
Rating: 1.5/5

exile-the next door-indestructible
I can feel it coming over me
I feel it all around me
I've been waiting for this moment all my life it's my destiny
There's a fire deep inside of me
it's waiting to come out now
no matter what, no matter how, I know I'll make it through somehow
cuz when the road feels too long
I'll still be holding on
I'm gonna keep on going, I know I'll be strong
Indestructible
I wont let nobody break me down
Indestructible
nothings gonna stop me now
Indestructible
gonna gonna make gonna keep on going
Indestructible
the last man standing
I'm ready for whatever
I'm never giving up
nothing can break my spirit
cuz it's indestructible
can't explain it, it's incredible
the strength I feel inside me
nothing is impossible
I know I'll find my way
through a storm through the darkest night
whatever comes it's alright
Not gonna turn around I'm ready, for the future now
and when the road feels too long
I'll still be holding on
I'm gonna keep on going, I know I'll be strong
nothing is impossible
if you really want it
and I really want it
not gonna stop, no matter what, no
yeah this time, nothing can hold me back, no
nothing can break me down, my spirit's indestructible.

KL weekend pt 2
Nike 10K run.its not 10,000 km alright, its just 10 thousand people running along, divided into two categories, 10km and 5 km. the event was held at KLCC park(or somewhere nearby, and running through the cityscapes, hence the slogan "we run KL"
its organize by nike of course, and they needed volunteers to help out during the event. So Pang chong and farn feng signed up along with me and we met at the LRT and journeyed to the venue together with pang chong's friend an yong and met his other friend pei shuang at the ampang park station, den we walked a bit like 1km to the venue, when we reached there were probably about 100 volunteers already there so we registered and took our supper and chatted till we were updated with our jobs.
later on in the morning bout 3 am, the head o9f man power explained to us the whole event and things that we should do. Our job was road marshall, basically to ensure the runners are ok and fit to run. in case they needed help we are the ones there. we covered the last 2km of the stretch so u could see who is gonna win and those that are almost dead walking past , but we cheered them on and those words gave them the strength to finish the last leg. thats part of our job too i guess.well, mayb part of being a human being helping and encouraging each other.
after the event ended and we picked up our allowance , they were all too tired to go anywhere anymore we walked to the lrt and were on our way home.
it was a fun experience and we got to noe some people there, sometimes people arent cut out to be sociable but if u are the sociable one that we should always be try to open them up. like my friends back here in PJ , they are the passive ones i guess till u go ahead and appraoch them like tony and josh and bernard as well. haha . oops.
anyway, i think i would like to brighten up my life even more with things like these
comic fiesta 2010 dec anyone?
ps: one thing that i always miss out is the chance to take photos of memories, ahah thats why u should always have a photographer(no need professional la, u noe wat i mean) to take it for u, these people are the keyholder to your fond memories. i need one man, we all do. haha

KL weekend pt 1
Saturday 7am, 09/10/2010at tis point starts a pretty busy weekend for me, goin out for a LRT KL trip with steph(it was her idea btw)
not a big fan of KL though, not used to the human congestions and the fumes that are easily found everywhere, but thought i would take steph on a nice date anyway. we started at kelana jaya at 9am++, took Lrt to Kl sentral den moved on to the monorail to Jalan imbi, when we reached time square just started its business hours, immediately dear lovely steph went on a hysterical frenzy, shops after shops . i took my time exploring around while hse was in those cheap cheap shops dat sell cheap cheap clothes.tis is like mayb the 4th time i been here, it nv fails to amaze me about its height and its jumbled up shop categories, unlike one u or pyramid, time square is like an air conditioned pasar malam, with sales such as store wide RM 10 unfortunately the sizes for me are un available .
after a few hours of loitering and eating, we moved across the street to the infamous SG wang plaza, we went from floor to floor looking for things that might spark an interest but rarely, sg wang is over rated. looked everywhere for an anime fan shop, none, disappointed.
den went over to low yat in search of gigantic authentic okonomiyaki but apparently it was closed down, we settle for Shijikaya, sounds jap ei? but its crap as well, its malay owned i think but they try hard make japanese style, i had chicken nuggets what was called fried chicken karage, how lame was that.
after that not so satisfactory tea break we were off to watch a movie , but it was full so we skipped in times square a bit more and went on back to sentral and to petaling street ^^, it was the first time steph went there, dodgy as ever , the cheapest things at the highest prices, but i heard a lot of ang moh talking down the prices, they must have heard about us. haha. went to the hiro comic shop at the middle of the street, they were on freaking comic sales, selling comic sets at really low price, the old ones are even rm 1 each. got to go there again with someone passionate . haha.i mean some one who wants to collect those comics set by set ^^
so we loiter around for a bit more den went kenny rogers for a light dinner. it was just ok. but i don tink i will be goin to kenny's again for a bit, not up to standard already ( stupid inexperience franchisor)
den we were on our back to kelana jaya station where steph's brother picked her up .
that marks the end of our super fun time ^^.
BUT HOLD ON. i still have something on, yes it was the NIKE 10k run event in KL. i volunteered for that event. so off i went on the lrt again to meet up with my friend to go for the event together. but that would be part two. ^^.
ps: i m still havin trouble with the internet. so the pictures will be up later at a different post. stay in touch for prt 2, the nike run . good times as well

Wall Street Money never sleeps
Movie in a glimpse
Following where its first movie Wall Street (1987) left off, the first’s main character Gordon Gecko (Micheal Douglas) was released from prison into the world now where anything goes in its economical state, Jacob (Shia LaBeouf) a young ambitious man of the investments area belonging to Wall Street who incidentally is dating the daughter of gecko. The story takes part in the modern times where a single economic meltdown turns companies down to dust in seconds, fear and anxiety spreads when rumors are out causing a panic every now and then, Jacob will be seeing these things happen through the whole thing as part of his life and how devastating some can affect the people around him as well as he himself.
My talk:
The movie is very complicated to me, not the feeling nor the plot or the dialogues but my own intuition are having a parliament debate over whether it was good or not. It serves its purpose as a movie of that industry well, giving a good hindsight of how the economic is like, but the script felt a bit hong kong serial drama at the end. I would not elaborate on that spoiler part. The movie was never intended for all people only certain people (read further on for a breakdown of audience)
Best parts:
Quote-“humans are a mixed bag (of things), right now I just wanna be a father.
Stamped and mailed
A movie that is good to watch for those of interest and open to a different part of the world, but will prove boring to some.
The part that i find amusing
This time, it’s the audience, after the movie while looking around and hearing voices throughout the show I concluded on some type of audience who would give certain feedbacks
Type A
These audiences rate a movie based on its dialogues and sophistication of the movie script or the structure of the plot. They would like to think a movie full of talking such as this is a very in depth and good movie not knowing what the hell it was about.(usually caused by stupid “it’s was awesome” status updates on facebook)they don’t want to be left out u know?
Model speech after the movie-“ I think the movie was very deep and inspiring, quite a lot of meanings in it man(without getting any) the dialogues were pretty smart aye?(yea sure buddy)
Type B
A group who are what some people will call action jocks, no explosion in the movie=no dam fun.
Model speech after the movie-“that was the most boring film I have seen in a while man”
Type C
Or I should call it the confused one, these people are honest in a way, not knowing what’s the hype of it all and the lack of a better film at that time, usually accompanying a friend, feels clueless and dumb. They DO try hard to catch the film in context though
Model speech after the movie-“mmmm, yea”
Type D
People who are actually interest in the film , or any other movie. they analyze the movie more den others while knowing what they are actually doing.
Model speech after the movie-“not bad the film, but it could have been better if…..”
But sometimes thanks to peer pressure type Bs and type As are often confused over the hardcore lame stupid status updates and overly positive reviews on blogs that the see that they feel if they didn’t like the movie the world would kill them.
